Role Overview:
The Assistant Manager – Production will support the Production Manager in overseeing the manufacturing of single-use bioprocess bags. The role includes supervising daily operations, ensuring compliance with quality standards, monitoring productivity KPIs, optimizing processes, and coordinating manpower. This role is designed for an experienced professional transitioning into a mid-management position.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Execution:
Assist in planning and executing daily production operations: cutting, sealing, port welding, and leak testing.
Ensure adherence to shift schedules and manage workflow continuity.
Support preventive maintenance planning for machinery and equipment.
People & Team Management:
Supervise machine operators and general helpers during shifts.
Ensure discipline, productivity, and adherence to SOPs among team members.
Assist in training team members on lean manufacturing and low-wastage practices.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
Work closely with the QA/QC team to maintain ISO 13485 and GMP compliance.
Immediately report and assist in addressing any quality deviations or non-conformances.
Process & Efficiency Improvement:
Assist in monitoring machine performance and optimize cycle times for better yield.
Identify process bottlenecks and suggest improvements for higher efficiency.
Inventory & Coordination:
Monitor raw material usage and alert for shortages in advance.
Ensure proper handling and tracking of films, ports, connectors, and accessories.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain accurate batch records, daily production logs, and shift reports.
Escalate operational issues to the Production Manager promptly.
Preferred Qualifications:
Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or Polymer Engineering.
Experience: 5–8 years in manufacturing (medical devices, biotech, or similar).
Working knowledge of cleanroom processes, GMP, ISO 13485 standards.
Strong understanding of production planning, manpower handling, and equipment operations.
Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Tally, Zoho, etc.) preferred.
